Bagay ba sa`kin ang maging emo?
It’s very astonishing to witness various emotions during the distribution of report cards. In my environment, many were jumping for joy, and thanking God like the whole universe has been bestowed upon them. Some were either drowning in tears of failure and regret or feeling indifferent about their school mishaps. Those cases are inevitable.
Many are truly intellectually gifted. However, utilizing their potentials can be challenging for them. They have it with them, but they have no idea how to showcase it. Maybe they’re just lazy, or they feel shy. I don’t know; but it’s the same banana. However, average people who mastered the craft of employing what they have to attain a goal are dominating. In this competitive world, they are most likely to succeed.
That’s the ultimate lesson that I’ve learned in my sophomore year.
Success is always being fueled by perseverance, followed by intellect. I’ve known people who have both factors. Indeed, they hit the jackpot. They don’t only eye for academic accolade. By exposing themselves to other extra-curricular activities, they go beyond their cerebral flair. Words like ‘limitation’ and ‘impossible’ are not in their vocabulary. They have the ability to balance the scale!
Hence, Secondary Education is very crucial because it hones your time and stress management for future undertakings. I don’t know in other schools; but in SPCP, it greatly applies.
Being in the competitive milieu of our batch, I’ve also observed how my colleagues vent their achievements differently. Some just shut their mouth, as if nothing happened. Some even deny it, like they’ve done a heinous crime. Worst case of false modesty. Some people seem to keep their cool, but they discreetly show their certificates by placing them on their laps while exchanging pleasantries with their friends. Some even spurt out TMI words that are not necessary for us to know.
Person 1: Guys, anu-ano ang mga average niyo?
Person 2: *didn’t hear* *chatting with a seatmate*
Person 1: Sa `kin tumaas. Yay!
Me: (thought bubble: Ugh OK. Congratulations.)
How insecure. People already know who belong to the cream of the crop. So bragging doesn’t do any good. The right way to show your achievement is by simply say ‘Thank You’ to people who commend a job-well-done of yours. And by living a normal life, just like before. Amaze everyone by your achievements alone, not by your consistent boasting.
Competitiveness is contagious. Figuratively, I’ve seen people who burst from their own cotyledons to beat their naturally competitive colleague/s. It brings out the inner angst in you furtively. Optimistically speaking, it measure up your potentials. It improves your self-worth.
In conclusion, I would take a different path to meet my goals, whether short or long-term. Something more healthy. Something more potent. Since most of my colleagues use a common method to wear the crown of the best, I would take the de-tour. Mind you, it’s not the short-cut. It’s just different from the conventional way. It refreshes one’s individuality. It rectifies one’s mind set.

I haven’t blogged here for days. Mian hae. If my random spurts are for my Blogspot and my daily updates are for my LJ, then my profound thoughts are for my WordPress. Before writing something here, I should be greatly inspired by a relevant event of my life. My blog entries here should be compelling and beyond-the-lines.
Although it’s April already, It’s never too late to formally welcome Summer`09. I made that sunshine-y, broadband/DSL-required GIF exclusively for that purpose. (Say Hi to Kim Taeyeon!) Many had already occured in the past few weeks; but rest assured that I’d be contemplating about anything inspirational here. No more blog hiatus for me.
